What is the Purpose of PBIS? • The purpose of the School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is to provide an immediate reinforcement for desired behavior. • The immediate reinforcement acts as a teaching tool for desired behavior. It keeps staff and students attention focused on desired behaviors. • The immediate reinforcement is a bridge to long term rewards. • The immediate reinforcement increases the likelihood of repeating the desired behavior. • It fosters a positive school climate and reduces the need for engaging in time consuming disciplinary measures. Students become eager to receive the long term rewards!!

  5. Classroom Expectations Be Ready • Have all materials • Stay on task Be Respectful • Use positive voice and language • Raise your hand to answer or speak • Honor personal space Be Responsible • Do your best work at all times • Keep your area organized • Follow directions

  6. Bathroom Expectations Be Ready • Walk quietly as you enter/exit • Use restroom quickly Be Respectful • Wait patiently/quietly • Keep restroom clean • Honor personal space Be Responsible • Wash your hands with soap • Report problems to an adult • Use facilities properly

  7. Hallway Expectations Be Ready • Get in line order • Face forward • Walk on the black line Be Respectful • Stay silent in hallways • Honor personal space Be Responsible • Stop at teacher’s designated stopping point • Enter classroom only when adult is present

Arrival Expectations Be Ready • Exit vehicles silently • Enter the building silently • Stay in line until you get to designated areas Be Respectful • Wait patiently and silently in designated area • Follow hallway procedures Be Responsible • Follow directions/procedures • Go directly to assigned areas • Remain seated and follow morning hallway procedures

Dismissal Expectations Be Ready • Look/listen for your ride quietly • Keep book bags packed Be Respectful • Wait patiently and silently in designated area • Follow hallway procedures Be Responsible • Follow directions/procedures • Go directly to assigned area • Remain seated and follow afternoon hallway procedures

Cafeteria Expectations Be Ready • Get needed items before sitting down • Wait patiently and quietly Be Respectful • Use table manners • Honor personal space Be Responsible • Remember your lunch choice • Eat silently until teacher gives signal • Face table with hands, feet, and utensils to yourself • Follow proper clean up procedures • Follow dismissal procedures
