  2. Level 1 Literal Level - Questions that can be answered by the facts in the text

  3. Level 2 Interpretive Level – Questions that require some analysis and interpretation of specific parts of the text.

  4. Level 3 Experienced-Based Level – Questions that are open-ended and go beyond the text and could provoke a discussion of an idea or issue.

  5. Examples: • Level 1: • What does Cinderella leave at the ball? • How many stepsisters does Cinderella have? • Level 2: • Why are the stepsisters so mean to Cinderella? • What is Cinderella’s intention in going to the ball? • Level 3: • What options does a person in Cinderella’s situation have to help them cope with abuse? • How well does the story represent animosity and difficulties in families with step-parents and step-siblings?
