MUTUAL FUNDSWhat are they? • A pre-packaged portfolio of investment securities, managed by a professional. • Mutual funds are sold by financial companies • Mutual funds pool the capital (money) of investors • When you invest in a mutual fund, you are essentially buying a small piece of every security in the fund’s portfolio

  2. MUTUAL FUNDS • Mutual funds can invest in any type of security • The professional fund manager controls what the fund invests in • Individual mutual funds have a specific focus or objective. The investments that the advisor chooses support that objective. • When the value of the securities in the fund rises, so does the value of your units and vice versa

  3. Mutual Funds • Mutual Funds are redeemable at any time – the mutual fund company will buy back your units at the current “trading” price.
