  2. Biggest meteor • The biggest meteor to hit earth was in Russia the speed was 1500 kilometres per hour or about 950 miles per hour. • The width was 50 meters. • It injured 1100 people.

  3. Most common meteor • The most common meteor is a meteorite. • The biggest meteorite was the dinosaur killer a very large meteorite that crashed near Mexico about 60 million years ago that wiped out the dinosaur.

  4. Meteoroids The smallest Meteoroid was a speck of dust. Most Meteoroids are one centimetre long any smaller than this are not visible.

  5. Meteors • Meteors are not only called meteors they are also called shooting stars or falling stars but they are not a star at all. • A meteor usually lasts only a second before it gets destroyed most burn up between 75 and 115 km above the ground

  6. Fun facts • When a meteoroid enters the earth’s atmosphere it could be travelling as fast as 70 km per second • Very large meteoroids make very big meteors called bolides or fireballs • About 50,000 years ago an iron meteorite 40-50m wide hit earth

  7. Meteor showers • Meteor shower is when heaps of meteors come down to earth together • It doesn't normally hit earth but you can still watch it • It happens on most clear nights with no moon • There are dozens even hundreds of meteors

  8. Huge impacts • Most meteorites that hit earth are harmless but sometimes it can cause huge damage
