  3. Data Description • Unit of analysis/study: Country • Reliability of the data: nationally representative, and represent for >172/195 countries worldwide

  4. Data Description (cont.) stats | CPI loggdppc logliteracy freedom ---------+--------------------------------- N | 181 172 176 181 mean |4.005 8.561 4.366 2.088 median| 3.2 8.574 4.508 2 sd |2.095 1.552 .315 .871 cv | .523 .181 .072 .417 min | 1 5.501 3.082 0 max | 9.5 11.646 4.605 3

  5. Data Description (Cont.) More countries enjoy full political freedom

  6. Bivariate analysis • CPI and GDP per capita: linear; CPI and Freedom level: linear; CPI and Literacy rate: curvy-linear.

  7. Regression Analysis: DV = CPI • Correlations: statistically significant & positive; • Model 3 has highest Adj.R2 (=0.627) -> the best-fit model.

  8. Findings & Policy Implications • Findings: research hypothesis accepted • #1: countries with higher GPD Per capita experience less corruption in 2011; (strongest correlation) • #2: countries where people are better educated experience less corruption in 2011; • #3: countries with higher political development experience less corruption in 2011. • Policy implications: • Focus efforts on improving living standard; • Provide more and better education for entire population; • Provide people with more political rights and freedom.
