Textbook Answers 1) 29% 2) Fridge-freezer and lighting. 3) a) Laptop, fridge, LCD TV, hand blender, washing machine. b) The fridge is on all the time. 4) Total energy input is 100 J; total energy output is 100 J; the energy input is the same as the energy output – energy is conserved. 5) a) On the Sankey diagram the input arrow splits into two output arrows – one (to the right, light) is ¼ the width of the input arrow, and one (downwards, heat) is ¾ the width of the input arrow. b) The width of the light energy arrow is wider; showing more of the energy is transferred as light.
