Iwillwritetheirentirestoryupin nextmonth’sissueofthismagazine, butthe shortversionisthattheyhadbeenusing TradegeckoandXeroforsometime. Itwasaneyeopening experiencetoseehowproactiveandforward thinkingtheUSadvisersinourindustrywere, afterhearingforyears “don’tworryabouttheUS, theyareallstillwritingchequesbyhand”. Yes, cheques (orchecksinUSterms) arestillabig partofthebusinessculture, butonceyoustep awayfromtheXeroviewoftheUSandseehow fastthebusinesscommunityisadoptingthe cloudintheUS - it’salotfasterthanwedidhere inAustralia. Firstpeoplehavetogetusedtointernetbanking andthentheyhavefearsabouthavingtheir financialsinthecloudandit’ssecurity, thenthe lovetheefficiencysomuchtheytaketheleapof faithofmovingtoXeroorQBO. Oncetheyhave donethat, theyrealisethatthereareaddonsor appstohelpmaketheirbusinessevenmore efficientandtheystarttousethose. Or, theywere unabletomovetoXeroorQBOinitiallywithoutan addon, sotheyhadtojumpwithbothfeetinand startwithanaddonandtheirchosenaccounting system. That’sthetypicaljourneyweallhave experience. Thebiggesteye-openerformetothisfactwas whenIwalkedintoaseminaratQBConnectin SanJoseonhowtoselecttherightappfor yourclient. Ithinkthesessionswascalled “TamingtheWildWestofApps”. Theroom seatedaround500peopleandtherewere peoplestandingaroundthewalls. Nowmany oftheseadvisorshadonlyjuststartedusing QBO, buttheyknewalreadythattobe successfulwithQBOasanadvisortheyalso hadtounderstandtheapps. Itwasatthat momentthatIrealisedhowmuchfasterQBO andthecloudwillmoveinAmerica. Xerocon inAustraliahasn’tevendeliveredthislevelof high-qualityspeakingonthesetopicstohelp advisorsgetonthefrontfoot. Theyeitherhave tofinditthemselvesorsearchoutforpeople likeusatWhichAddOntohelpthemmake senseofthe “WildWest”.  "What took us 3 years to do in Australia, is happening in the US in just 1 year." STEP FIVE Order Receipt Acknowledgement is Sent Back to the Buyer  ThisPurchaseOrderisoftencalledan 850: PurchaseOrder.  Onceyouhavereviewedthenew order/sandconfirmed (inCin7) that youhaveenoughstocktofulfillthe ordersbythedeadlineprovided, Cin7willautomaticallygeneratean OrderAcknowledgementreceiptand senditbacktotheBuyerviatheEDI system. Ifyouneedtochangetheiroriginal orderbecauseyoucan’tfulfillwhat theywantintime, Cin7willsenda ChangeAcknowledgement. STEP SIX Prepare the Order for Fulfilment and Send the Advanced Shipping Notice Youpreparetheorderforshipmentand thenoncereadytoship, wellbeforethe Buyer’sdeadline, youwillneedtoprint thelabelstoputonyourboxes/pallets andthenCin7willcreateanAdvanced ShippingNotice (ASN) totheBuyervia theEDIsystem. The ASN tells the buyer all about the order that’s on it’s way. Asaresult, orders wereprintedfromthee-commercesolutionandthen adjustedoutofCin7to “account” fordispatcheditems. Asaresult, nosalesdatawasrecordedformillionsin sales. Justthecost. Inventorycontrolwasprettymuch outthedoor. Staffwereextremelyfrustrated, andjustdidthebest theycouldtomakethebestofabadsituation. Tosay thesystemhadproblemswasanunderstatement.
