  8. TNReady-New & Improved TCAP TNReady is the new and improved TCAP test in math and English language arts (ELA) for grades 3-11 • TNReady is a part of TCAP • TCAP includes grades 3-8 achievement tests and End of Course exams for science, social studies, math, and English • TNReady has fewer and better questions than the former TCAP tests • Writing emphasized • Constructed response rather than only multiple choice • The new test in math and ELA is designed to assess true student understanding, not just basic memorization and test-taking skills.

  9. TNReady is a Necessary Change • Our students have to be better prepared to take advantage of opportunities after graduation, and we need a better measurement of progress. • TNReady gives all of us an important big-picture perspective, so we can see if students are on track and progressing toward college and workforce readiness. • We believe all children in Tennessee are exceptionally capable and – with the expertise and support of tremendous teachers and leaders – they will be TNReady.

  10. Teacher Preparation report card

  11. Report Card Transition • Previously, Report Card production was led by THEC • Production of the 2015 Report Card was a joint effort: • Data collection—THEC • Data analysis—TDOE • Report production—SBE

  12. 2015 Report Card • The 2015 Report Card is very similar to the 2014 Report Card and continues to cover the following topics: • Demographics including academic credential and initial license type • Academic information including GPA, ACT, SAT, etc. • Licensure assessment data including CORE and Praxis passage rates • Placement and retention data • TVAAS analysis: Beginning teacher and statewide teacher comparisons • TVAAS analysis: Statewide distribution (% in highest and lowest quintiles)

  13. 2016 Redesign Given changes in the EPP policy in 2014 and stakeholder feedback, SBE and TDOE will be leading a Report Card redesign for 2016. • Report Card • External-facing geared towards district, public, and prospective candidate audiences • Annual Reports • Provider-facing geared toward providing granular data to help drive program improvement • Alignment across data definitions and metrics between these reports
