  3. Renewal by Synergy CERPs Weighting for CERP Categories Category A – 60-80% Category B – 10-30% Category C – 10-30% Plus 20 optional CERPs - choice 100 CERPs required each renewal period

  4. Renewal by Synergy CERPs The CERP categories (A, B and C) are based on groupings of the 8 nurse characteristics of the Synergy Model

  5. Renewal by Synergy CERPs Categories: Category A = 60-80% • clinical judgment and clinical inquiry • Category B = 10-30% • caring practices, response to diversity, advocacy and moral agency, facilitation of learning • Category C = 10-30% • collaboration and systems thinking

Examples in Category A – 60-80% of CERPs in 3 years Category A = clinical judgment and clinical inquiry Learning Topics: ECG monitoring, physical assessment, pharmacology, heart failure, CCRN/PCCN review courses, research, evidence-based practice Activities:CCRN/CCRN-E and PCCN Self Assessment Exams (SAEs), publishing and editing activities, quality improvement activities

Examples in Category B – 10-30% of CERPs Category B = caring practices, response to diversity, advocacy and moral agency, facilitation of learning Learning Topics: patient safety, infection control, preventing medication errors, cultural diversity, ethics, palliative care Activities: precepting, participating on an ethics or Joint Commission preparation committee, teaching an in-service

  8. Examples in Category C – 10-30% of CERPs Category C = collaboration and systems thinking Learning Topics: crucial conversations, healthy work environments, negotiation, leadership skills, emergency planning and coordination Activities:membership in a national nursing organization, participating in a interdisciplinary committee, designing new policies, leading a case conference
