Primero= First Segundo= Second Tercero= Third Cuarto= Fourth Quinto= Fifth Sexto= Sixth Séptimo= Seventh Octavo= Eighth Noveno= Ninth Décimo= Tenth Notas: 1.Ordinal numbers agree with the nouns they introduce: las primeras personas la primera semana 2. Primero and tercero become primer and tercer before a masculine singular noun: el primer muchacho el tercer chico 3. Ordinal numbers are used only from 1 to 10.   8. How to conjugate verbs: • 1. Take the infinitive: Hablar (To speak) • 2. Drop the ending: Habl- • 3.   19. Pronunciation: The Spanish “D” • The Spanish "d" has two separate sounds, hard and soft. At the beginning of a phrase and after "n“, “m” or "l", the hard Spanish "d" closely resembles the "d" in the word "dog." The difference is that when pronouncing the hard Spanish "d", the tongue touches the back of the front teeth (rather than the gum ridge, as in English). • In other situations (particularly between vowels) the "d" is softer, closely resembling the "th" sound in the word "this."

Practicing the Spanish “D” • Hard “d” (teeth touch the back of the front teeth): • ¿Dónde se venden faldas que recomiendas? • Soft “d” (like the “th” sound in “they”) • Todos los estudiantes nadan cada día, ¿verdad? • Both together: • Fede manda que Fernando diga la verdad el sábado durante el día.

  26. The Present Progressive • To say someone is doing something: • *Use a form of “estar” + “present participle” • (-ando, -iendo) • Examples: • Estoy hablando italiano. • Ella está corriendo por la calle. • Nosotros estamos saliendo de la clase.

  34. Adjectives describe people/objects. In Spanish, adjectives MUST agree in GENDER & NUMBER with the noun they describe. EXAMPLES: La casa es blanca. Las casas son blancas. Tengo muchos hermanos. Mi padre es viejo. Los burritosestán beunos. (bueno/a/os/as= good) Adverbs describe actions. In Spanish, adverbs are either masculine or neutral. EXAMPLES: Tú bailas mal. Pedro corre rápido. Simple Future Tense • One way to say someone is • going to do something is to use • a form of the verb ir + a + the infinitive. • Examples: • I’m going to sing. = Voy a cantar. • She’s going to eat. = Ella va a comer. • We’re going to leave. = Vamos a salir. • They’re going to dance. = Ellos van a bailar.

Reflexive Verbs • *Verbs that end in “se” indicate the action is done to the • person spoken about. • *When conjugating a reflexive verb, one must include the reflexive pronoun in front of a conjugated verb or • at the end of an infinitive or present participle. • Reflexive Pronouns:Examples: • me nosMe baño cada día. • te os ¿Te cepillas los dientes? • se se Ella se levanta a las seis. • Vamos a despertarnos a las seis. • Ellos están lavándose la cara.
