  3. The LHC is a reality… The LHC results will determine the future course of High Energy Physics …its detectors too

  4. CARE Activities Major Strategic decisions 2005 Annual report (349 pages) sent to the EC end March http://esgard.lal.in2p3.fr/Project/Activities/Current/Annual/index.php Both scientific and financial report have been approved by the EC

  5. CARE general information Funding Status: • The 3rd advanced payment (2.605 M€) was received in June • The transfer of the money to all 22 institutes is done since July • In total 12 768 281 € received from the EC, covering the 42 out of 60 months • So far about 21.4 M€ was spent for the first 34 months Work progress: • Progress will be shown in CARE06. Several activities are getting close to their end with already some outstanding achievements. • 2006 quarterly reports have been received and are on the web • Steering Committee and Dissemination Board meeting on April 11-12, September 13-14 and during CARE06 • CARE continue to be very productive for the scientific documentation • Preparation of the 2006 Annual report has to start

Conclusions Welcome to the 3rd Annual CARE meeting The goal of this meeting is to review the progress done (already outstanding achievements have been made) and prepare the work to come Accelerator R&D is now fully part of the particle physics program in Europe Following the pioneering example of CARE and its successful achievements, we have to prepare new projects for the next FP7 calls But for now, I am looking forward a fruitful meeting … …showing how much we CARE for accelerator R&D
