  1. How to keep your Body fit during Annapurna Base Camp Trek? Annapurna Base camp trek is one of the most widely chosen Himalayan trek routes to explore the beauty of the ranges up close and personal. Filled with a stunning collection of Rhododendrons and Alpine Vegetation, Annapurna Base camp trek has a lot to see and explore on the route. Graded as a moderately severe trek route, the Annapurna Base camp trail covers a massive 115 kilometres long and takes anywhere between 9 to 12 days to complete. How to prepare yourself for the Annapurna base camp trek? Unlike the other conventional and easier trek routes, ABC Trek requires a certain level of fitness to keep up with the pace of the trek duration. A few essential aspects if well followed can help a great deal in completing the ABC trek without much difficulty and within the time frame dedicated to it. 1.Endurance is the key The length of the trek is not a small one. This massive trail will be tough to handle if you are not well apt. The fluidity of the limbs can only be improved if you practice a little bit each day months ahead of the trek. Cycling for 30 to 45 minutes or Jogging a few kilometres each day helps in the endurance build-up. 2.Muscle strength helps in the long run Strengthening of the muscles will prevent muscle sores, cramps, and even chances of muscular injury or ligament tear during this uphill ascend. This can be done by following a daily routine workout at home, comprising of a few basic exercises. 25 to 30 minutes of exercise 4 to 6 weeks ahead of schedule is sufficient to get in shape for the Annapurna Base camp trek. 3.Oxygen demand acclimatization Swimming helps a great deal in managing breathlessness. Other than that, the only way to acclimatize to the reducing percentage of Oxygen during the uphill ascend is by stopping and resting every few thousand feet. The 8 to 12 hrs of the resting period will help the body to adjust itself with the scarcity of Oxygen automatically and thus prevent any common altitude sickness like motion sickness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache, etc. 4.Ability to carry weight regularly Porters cannot always be an option during the trek. Besides, it is still better to bring your luggage for various reasons. The backpack generally weighs about 8 to 10 kgs which takes a bit of adjustment and getting used to.

  2. A few weeks before the trek, one can start getting used to the idea of carrying weights all day long by carrying small backpacks for a few hrs every day. The gradual increase in the weight of the bag will help in adjusting with the additional burden and thus make the climb much easier later on. 5.Strengthening of the lower body joints Lower limbs are prone to damage more often than not. These treks require a good lower body strength. The slight discrepancy can cause massive trauma to the leg muscles and bones. To ensure that your lower limbs are well strengthened, the best way is cycling or simple exercises daily. 6.Eyewears, lip balm, and sunblocks aren't just style statements The higher altitudes have a steeper UV ray gradient due to the absence of layers and thinning of surround air filters. The scorching Sun may not look dangerous but can cause severe skin and eye damage. Coupled with the arid and cold weather, the skin loses its hydration very quickly and burns up faster due to the dryness. Similarly, the scorching sun also creates massive pressure on the eyes and results in blinding. These things can be prevented by using a pair of perfect sunglasses for the eyes. For the skin, sunscreen with SPF 50 to 65 helps in protecting against the UV ray burns, while moisturizing balms keep the surface of the face and lips hydrated and prevent drying and peeling of the skin. 7.Medicine kit is a must-have inclusion Long walks along the harsh terrains of the Annapurna Base camp trek can cause blisters and various high altitude-related sickness. Since medical care is not always at your beck and call, it is essential to carry necessary medications and first aid goods along to handle the primary basic medical care if needed. 8.Hydration keeps the world of sickness at bay The extreme dryness accompanied by the scorching heat makes us lose water from the body faster than we realize. Since sweat is hardly visible, we often forget to hydrate our bodies. This causes increased viscosity of blood and decreased fluid elements in the body. Dehydration is a dangerous condition during high altitude trekking. Continually sipping water every hour helps in keeping this critical ailment away. These few tips and tricks can help you stay fit to trek up to Annapurna base camp short trek without any issues and health problems. Annapurna Ranges are a spectacular sight that one should visit at least once in their life without worrying about various health issues or risks.
