  1. Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Monsoon Season — Good choice or bad? The Annapurna Base Camp Trek remains one of the most popular treks in Nepal. From scenic locations to world heritage sites, from unique flora and fauna to diverse culture and lifestyle, there is nothing that you will miss on this trek. But a big question that often haunts the trekkers is whether it is a good choice or bad to undertake the ABC Trek in Monsoon season? While the simplest answer could have been ‘To each his own’, we make it a little more simplified for each one of you there who are a bit confused. Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Monsoon Season The monsoon period in Nepal is the summer season that lasts from June to August. The weather during this period is hot, humid and wet with heavy downpour. While the everyday rains make the region muddy and slippery, they also spread around an air of pleasantness, and lush greenery everywhere you can see. The high peaked mountains of the region are enveloped with white and snow like clouds which also often restricts their view. Travelling to the ABC Trek during the monsoon season has its own perks. The torrential rains significantly bring down the levels of dust and pollution that are common in the region otherwise. The valley is covered in lush greenery and beautiful flowers thus making a spectacular view for the trekkers who choose to face the rains and the storms to make it to the trek. It is not very difficult to trek during this season since it does not rain all during the day. The trekkers can prepare themselves by dressing accordingly for a rainy day ahead. A hard shell rain jacket that is light in weight is all that you will need to put over your layers of clothes. This makes it easier to remove the jacket when it is not raining and put it back when required. If you are one of those who love rains and enjoy the season, monsoon season is not going to be a deterrent for you. Whether monsoon or any other season, the trekkers can have a great time visiting the different world heritage sites and Buddhist monasteries that dot the entire trail of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Apart from visiting some significant sites and experiencing some breathtakingly spectacular views, the popular trek allows one to experience different cultures, lifestyle and traditions that are unique to the region and a completely new experience in it.

  2. Visiting the ABC Trek in the monsoon season is one-of-a-kind experience especially if you love solitude and nature and wish to have a good time all by yourself. This is because there are very few trekkers on the trail during this season which makes it much less crowded than it is in the other seasons. So if you are planning to visit the Annapurna Base Camp Trek during the monsoon season, we give you a few reasons to do so: Rains wash away the dust and pollution making the trail more beautiful. The trail is less crowded at this time so you can enjoy peace and solitude among the mountains. It does not rain all during the day so the treks can be planned accordingly. But just in case you are not a fan of the monsoon season, you must avoid trekking during this season since it can get wet and humid, muddy and slippery and one can encounter leeches on the trail. So, make your choice after a clear consideration of the fact of whether you are a monsoon enthusiast or not!
