2. Cluster Faculty Hires for Future Investments Concept: - Hire a cluster of 3 faculty in each of the 4 areas defined as priorities for URI in the Academic Plan. These are: Fundamentals of Liberal Learning and Scholarship Science and Technology Environment and the Green Economy Health and Wellness - Build on extant institutional strengths; new positions combine with those already at URI - New positions located in multiple departments and colleges - Define specific cluster areas - retreat with faculty from across the university, FSEC, and Deans came up with recommendations - Establish process to define interested units; conduct searches for the cluster and appoint in appropriate departments
