  5. Island nations and Internet governance • As at 2008, there were 47 island countries (approximately 25% of all countries) (source: Wikipedia) • Internet governance is as important for island nations as it is for other nations • The Caribbean islands are a microcosm

How can the Caribbean islands contribute? • Raise awareness of Internet governance issues for the Caribbean region amongst policymakers and other stakeholders • Identify issues that are relevant to the Caribbean • Build national and regional consensus • Participate in international dialogue on Internet governance • Be a voice for island communities • Help the international community identify key issues facing the Internet today and the Internet of the future • Encourage active, open and transparent dialogue • Think innovatively • Consider the perspective of others within the Internet community • Develop collaborative multi-stakeholder solutions • …..
