  1. My Externship @ Siemens Tresa Zaragoza New London High School

  2. What I did at Siemens • 5 S project in the paint kitchens • Seiri(sort) • Seiton(straighten or streamline) • Seiso(shine) • Seiketsu(standardize) • Shitsuke(sustain) • Plus Safety

  3. What I did at Siemens • 5 S project in the paint kitchens

  4. What I did at Siemens Before After • 5 S project in the paint kitchens

  5. What I did at Siemens • Created a spreadsheet conversion table.

  6. What I did at Siemens • Worked on a special laminate plan. • A laminate plan is a way to layer fiber glass on the blade. • created a spreadsheet to show the pattern.

  7. What I did at Siemens • Helped at Lee County Fair Kids Day • Solar Bug Races • Wind Turbine • Pin-Wheel Craft • Golf Hole

  8. What I did at Siemens • Gage R&R Project • Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility study • This type of study shows any variation in a measuring process.

  9. What I did at Siemens Corrected measuring error Gage R&R Project

  10. What I am taking back to my students • I can use technology (graphing calculators, excel, GeoGebraor other computer based technology) to analyze data. • I can measure using customary and metric. • I can convert between customary and metric. • I can look at a problem and develop a plan to solve it. • I can communicate mathematical information to others.

  11. What my students are going to do Project: Students will have a set of data that shows measured values compared to actual values. Within Guided Instruction students will use data analysis to determine if there is a significant error in measurements. The data shows a problem and we will discuss some possible causes and corrections. We will also discuss the need for both customary and metric measurements. Then students will collect their own measurements. They will need to convert the measurements between standard to metric. With the aid of a graphing calculator, excel, or other computer programs, they will use data analysis to evaluate their measurements and create a presentation to share with others. Their presentation needs to include a work instruction for measuring and converting properly.
