  7. (almost) Everyone has a Day Job • Philosophical Perspective: • We are all so busy with work, family, and community service • We just can’t take time to be a volunteer, we have to make time for it • However, busy people have a way of getting things done • And, many hands make light work • Personal Approach: • Define your own priorities • Establish a balance between competing priorities • Involve others in the activities of the day • Have a back-up plan and a secondary of motivated helpers • Unflappable Reality: • We are all components of a bigger system • Take your hand out of a bucket of water and it’s still a bucket of water

  8. Simple 6-Step Planning Process Oz Principle: See it, Own it, Solve it, Do it • Consider the Task: Continue to Grow HRC INCOSE in a Professional Manner • Consider the Resources: Past-presidents, Region V Reps, HQ, HRC Members • Consider the Alternatives: Do it alone, Delegate to others, Recruit volunteers • Write it Down: HRC INCOSE will recruit/involve members to achieve our goals • Put Plan into Action: Elect slate of officers. Recruit volunteers for small jobs. • Evaluate Results: Plan to review progress quarterly ($, people, time, successes) • Did we participate in events as planned? Did tutorial make us any money? • Did we grow in size? Any new student chapters? What are our member demographics? • How well did we increase our professional competencies? Any new CSEPs?

  9. Questions??? • How much time can I contribute to HRC INCOSE? • What activities do I enjoy supporting? Officer? Helper? • Who do I know that I can invite to join HRC INCOSE? • What professional development can HRC INCOSE provide for me? • Where do I want to be involved in local HRC activities? • Who can I invite as speaker? • What types of tutorial would I most likely attend? • What is the name of the person sitting next to you? • What do they do for a hobby? What do I have in common with them? • How can I help HRC INCOSE improve its products and services? BOTTOM LINE: We need your help to grow chapter to serve your needs.
