  2. What is Key hole bypass surgery? Key hole bypass surgery, also called minimal access bypass surgery is a procedure where bypass surgery of the heart (CABG-coronary artery bypass grafting) is done through a small cut on the side of the chest. This is a relatively new patient friendly development in the area of heart surgery. Bypass surgery of the heart is done to patients who have blocked coronary arteries-blood vessels that blood to the heart. They often present with chest pain or heart attacks or found out during health checkups. For decades, bypass surgery is done through a big incision on the front of the chest (20-25cm) and after the breast bone is divided vertically. www.drgokhale.com Call Us : 9603040506

  3. Often heart is stopped to do the surgery with the help of artificial heart lung machine. With this traditional surgery, patients take 3 months to recover and go back to work. Bleeding is more and require more blood transfusions and infections (mediastinitis) can be very dangerous. This deters many patients from surgery even though it is the best option for them. Often they ask the doctor-Doc, can I avoid bypass surgery and go for angioplasty and stenting? www.drgokhale.com Call Us : 9603040506

  4. Key hole bypass surgery Procedure: With key hole bypass surgery, the same operation is done through a small incision on the left side of the chest and without dividing the bones. Only surgeons with lots of experience in heart surgery can do this. Obese patients, patients with major lung problems are not suitable for this. After this patients have less pain, less bleeding, need less blood transfusions and less infections. They recover in 3-4 weeks time and start driving car or two wheelers and can resume normal activities. Call Us : 9603040506 www.drgokhale.com

  5. Even though many people think that key hole surgery is only for those needing one bypass graft, as many as 3-4 bypass grafts can be done through this approach. Very few centers in the world have experience in this. In IndiaDr.A.G.K.Gokhale has a large experience in minimal access heart surgery-key hole valve surgery, key hole bypass surgery and key hole closure of atrial septal defects (birth defects between the upper chambers of the heart).
