A carbon footprint measures the greenhouse gases produced by human activities, extending beyond carbon dioxide emissions. In the US, transportation accounts for a significant portion of these emissions, primarily from fossil fuels, contributing to 31% of greenhouse gases. The US, while only 5% of the global population, is responsible for 20% of man-made emissions. To lower one's carbon footprint, individuals can adopt simple practices such as walking more, turning off lights when leaving a room, using public transportation, and switching to energy-efficient bulbs.
