Project Objectives • To deliver green skills trainings in automotive to unemployed and underemployed Greater Milwaukee Area participants • To enhance current programs by building sustainable career pathways in automotive tech • To bring together community partnerships including: • employers • community-based organizations • technical college • city government

Who We Are Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) vision is to be “ …a premier comprehensive technical college that provides excellence in education to enrich, empower and transform lives in our community.” • Enrollment: 46,397 • Students w/ BA or BS (or higher): 3,685 • Average age: 27 • Gender • Female: 51.4% • Male: 48.6% • Diversity…MATC is Wisconsin’s only minority majority college

  12. What We Did • Trained faculty in hybrid electric and CNG technology • Purchased state-of-the-art equipment • Developed new courses for certificate and degree students • Built new “on-ramp” program with MCSC

  13. What MCSC Did • Recruit low-income community residents • Provide contextualized literacy linked to work experience • Offer Tech Train course for new entrants to Auto Tech careers • Provide case management at MCSC and MATC

Partnership Impact to Date • Trained 48 people in CNG and Hybrid Electric Technology • Expanded capacity to deliver alternative fuel training: • Obtained academic credit for new courses in AA program • Built on-ramp for under-served residents • Provided intensive short courses to up-skill incumbent workers • Enhanced case management at college
