  2. Reappointment • P&P 803.0 Reappointment of Untenured Faculty Members is the document that you should be looking at for instruction for reappointment

  3. Process of P&P • For lecturers, tenure-track faculty who haven’t completed a satisfactory pre-tenure review and ranked non-tenure track faculty in their first 3 years • Department or school elects a peer committee

  4. Process continued • Department/school peer committee makes its recommendation on reappointmen to the department chair – for divisions program directors take the place of department chair

  5. Process continued • The department chair (using materials submitted) makes his/her recommendation for reappointment • Senior lecturers and tenure-track faculty who have completed a successful pre-tenure review have option of bypassing peer review

  6. Process continued • Department chair forwards all material to school Dean (associate dean for divisions) who indicates his/her approval or disapproval and attach a letter if desired • Dean/associate dean forwards to VPAA for final approval

  7. Timetable • July 15 – those initially appointed two years before or longer • Oct 15 – those initially appointed one year before • Jan 15 – those appointed within the current academic year

  8. Package Contents • Reappointment cover sheet • Resume, including a listing of courses taught at SPSU • Concise summary of accomplishments written by faculty member • Results of teaching effectiveness including student evaluations

  9. After pre-tenure review • Faculty members completing a satisfactory pre-tenure review may bypass the full review – the department chair can make the recommendations based on faculty member’s annual evaluations and submit to dean and VPAA for approval

  10. Lecturers, ranked non-tenure track • These faculty may also bypass full review if they have completed at least 3 full review process cycles – department chair, dean use annual evaluations for material

  11. Annual Review • Based on P&P 803.07 Assessment of Faculty • Uses P&P 803.075 Faculty Activities as a guideline

  12. Documents used • Performance Expectations sheet • Faculty Rating Form • Assessment of Part-time or Temporary Faculty Form

  13. Annual Activity Report • Written by faculty member • Teaching • Service (including advising) • Academic achievement (scholarship) • Professional growth & development

  14. Other inclusions • Recent assessment summaries – SIRS, etc. • Any other departmental teaching assessment form • Peer visitation forms

  15. Process • Faculty member creates packet • March department chair reviews documents that have been submitted and completes Faculty Rating Form • Faculty member and Dept chair meet to discuss

  16. Process continued • Sent to Dean who has option of adding commentary • Sent to VPAA
