  1. Vision & Mission • To excel in circuit technique, design methodology and modeling in Analog, RF and Mixed-Signal IC by year 2014. • To employ knowledge and expertise from Universities and Industries.

  2. Circuit Technique Application Modeling Design Methodology Knowledge

  3. Application IEEE wireless Sensor Design Tool Knowledge Telecommunication IC Wireline IC Robust Device Model

  4. Projects In order to acquire the knowledge, below are projects which will be undertaken. • Analog, RF and millimeter-wave circuit design beyond 45 nm CMOS. • Multiband RFID Reader IC. • Visible Light Filter and Photodiode for Optical Sensor Application. • CPW MWMICs. • Readout IC for Radiation Sensor. • Development of remotely-control medical equipment with reporting features.

  5. Project #1-Analog,RF and millimeter-wave circuit design beyond 45 nm CMOS • The investigation starts from device-level simulation results that are imported into a simulation environment for analog circuits to evaluate the performance of classical topologies of circuits that typically occur in the radio front-ends of telecommunication IC.

  6. Project #2-Multiband RFID Reader IC • To develop commercial ready Multiband Reader IC ( Microwave and UHF ) using current state of the art technology.

  7. Project #3-Visible Light Filter and Photodiode for Optical Sensor Application • The use of patterned metal layers as integrating light filters offer numerous benefit compare to colour filter array. One of them is to reduce colour cross talk, this is because it offers shorter distance from pixel surface and pixel photodiode. The patterned metal layer offer robust application such as for high temperature usage application. • The proposed research work is also focusing on development of photodiode models, high speed operational amplifier and low power data converters. This deliverables will ensure the outcome of the research can be commercialized in the future.

  8. Project #4-CPW MWMICs • The develop MWMICS ( > 30 GHz ) • The proposed research work is also focusing on LNA, PA and T/R switch. The investigation on CPW structure is the main focus in the research.

  9. Project #5-Readout IC for Radiation Sensor • The IC provides preamplifier and shaping amplifier functions and its output stage is capable of driving conventional Analogue to Digital Converter modules.

  10. Project #6-Development of remotely-control medical equipment with reporting features • The development of commercial medical device such as blood pressure/heart beat meter which could report wirelessly.
