  • In the 1500 they were called “affodils”.
  • Among other names it is also known as jonquil ,narcissus or paper white.
  • There is a skin disease sometimes found in florists known as “daffodil itch”
  • ON April 15, 1802, William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy saw what he described as a "long belt" of daffodils, which inspired his famous "I wandered lonely as a cloud" poem
  •  In Victorian times, daffodils represented chivalry. Today they symbolise hope

Where do daffodils grow best

  • They are native to the meadows and woods of Europe, North Africa and West Asia.
  •  The Arabs used the juice of the wild daffodil pseudonarcissusas a cure for baldness .
  • Did you know there are male and female flowers ,the male flowers produce pollen .
  • High born ladies in medieval times used the yellow flower dye to tint their hair and eyebrows.
