  1. An Overview of Business Warehouse from SAP Business Warehouse from SAP is a model-driven warehousing product based on the SAP Net Weaver ABAP platform. It is very useful as it collects, transforms, and stores data generated in SAP as well as non-SAP applications. This data can then be accessed for reporting, business intelligence, and analytics even through a third-party software.

  2. Programmers use the SAP Business Warehouse(BW)platformto develop, create, and modify data warehouses, generate reports and data management tasks, and deploy analytics applications. SAP BW can typically be accessed through an application like an executive dashboard or a mobile app. Unlike most data warehousing solutions that operate on a database platform, SAP BW enables data warehouse objects like data sources, data stores, and queries. These are then managed in different ways depending on the platform it operates on. 

  3. How does SAP Business Warehouse work? • Until recently, SAP Business Warehouse was fully model-driven. BW developers used the interface of BW to quantify the data flow and storage of a data warehousing system. BW operated on the database to ingest, transform, and store the data.  

  4. The development of the SAP Business Warehouse has moved to open-source Eclipse and web-based tooling based on the design language SAP Fiori. These tools are deployed on a development system that is tested and migrated to quality assurance and production processes. 

  5. Till BW was put on HANA,SAP Business Warehouse ran on the SAP Net Weaver ABAP platform and was database-agnostic. But now, after BW on HANA and through to BW/4HANA, BW still runs on the Net Weaver ABAP platform but needs the HANA database to be used. Many organizations, though, still use the BW7.5 version which is the last database-agnostic release on non-HANA databases.
