  1. Why should we pay school fees?

  2. Because we as a school value the education that our daughters get! Because this school is one of the top schools in the Country! Because we provide a socio-economic balance in the learner body that prepares our girls (young ladies) for the reality of life!

  3. How are your school fees spent?

  4. Reasons not to pay school fees! • The government subsidises the school! • The government provides free education! • If I do not pay fees, the government will! • The Government provides teachers! • I pay my taxes!

  5. The government subsidises the school! The government DOES subsidise our school Subsidy received over the last 3 years averaged R52 054 This covered • 29% of security OR • 28% of cleaning costs OR • 25% of electricity!

  6. The government provides free education! The government provides free education to about 400 schools – IN THE POOREST OF AREAS! We are free to choose where to educate our daughters.

  7. If I do not pay fees, the government will! Correct - if the Government is the people – unfortunately the Government is actually the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education who decide where to spend YOUR taxes. REALITY – other parents pay for your daughter’s education if you do not – this costs our school about R2 million a year or R2 000 per fee paying learner.

  8. The Government provides teachers and staff! • Teachers 35 : 22 • Top ups R1.5 million per year • Administrative staff 3 : 7 • Support (grounds etc) 6 : 6

  9. I pay my taxes! This is the only reason that is wholly corect (I hope – otherwise you have a bigger problem than the finance office!) However, the Government decides what to do with this money (in most cases our effective tax rate is close to 50%)
