  3. PRINCIPAL - LEADERSHIP • Good leadership is one of the key features of success schools.

  4. Models of leadership • (Busher –Saran ) • Structural functional . Traditional model that focuses on roles, role differentiation and hierarchical structures. Make sure that everyone is marching to the same drummer.

  5. Open Systems • Focusing on the effect of sociopolitical environment on the organization and how this is accommodated by the boundary management. • The role of the formal leader is to mobilize subordinates to achieve the organizational goals.

  6. Cultural pluralism • Attempting to shape people’s personal and professional values to organizational policy . • Leaders promote and manipulate the culture to achieve organizational goals.

  7. Interpersonal . • Leaders in this model use interpersonal skills to build a consensus in support of organizational goals. • The key to leadership is the followership. • Charismatic Leaders.

  8. Transactional leadership • Based on exchange of services, on various kinds of rewards. • Leaders control

Continues • The emphasis on transactional leadership is primarily about management of school structure. • It involves focusing on purposes of the organization, developing plans, ensuring task completion, facilitating information flow, and well working with the various school groups, particularly teachers.

  18. Facilitate parent and church community involvement . • Facilitate links between school and the church. • Provide opportunities for staff development.

  19. The role of the school principal • What is a Principal ? • A principal is an individual who directs and monitors the academic and non- academic within a school enviroment.

  20. School principal • The principal is the individual who plans and implements the daily routines within an educational settings.

  21. Responsibilities • Head of the educational settings. • Provides guidance to teachers and students • . • Monitor all activities within the school and be the leader of it all.

  23. Important • The school principal is responsible for identifying the expectations placed on the school, ensuring that church guidelines are met .
