  2. INTRODUCTION Photos are the most prevalent visual representation of what is happening in the world. They describe documents and explain everything from ancient civilizations to modern-day life. From paintings to illustrations, photography has evolved over many years but still has a long way to go in this era of digital technology. The internet allows people to publish their work, share their photos and interact with others. This social media revolution has also brought out a rise in visual arts in all its forms. Photographers have started to embrace this new style of art, modified photography techniques, and even set up shop on the internet. Since the digital age, photography has developed itself from being a static medium focused on capturing moments and then curating them into albums, to being more dynamic by featuring a greater element of interactivity for viewers.

  3. FRAMEWORK FOR FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY Fine art photographyhas slowly become a growing phenomenon in the arts industry. This style of photography is often frowned upon by traditionalists who see it as a cheap imitation of 'real' art. But why then, is fine art photography so popular? According to many experts, four main reasons explain why this phenomenon has found its way into this world.

  4. MATTING The first of these reasons is the posing of artworks. In traditional photography, there is usually a rectangular format background on which the subject is placed. This poses an issue that can be solved by using mattes. These are transparent holes that easily cover artwork and produce a three-dimensional effect by eliminating the need to use large backgrounds.

  5. CANONICAL MATTING FOR FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY The first use of this technique was in classical Hollywood movie-making, but this has now evolved into fine art photography. Another reason why fine art photography is so popular is its ability to create an unlikely connection between the audience and a piece of artwork. This can be seen in a number of ways, from the impressive sense of depth that results from it to the viewer actually being able to get closer to the image without feeling uncomfortable or as if they're intruding on the photo.

  6. FOCAL LENGTH The use of focal length has also been a way for photographers to understand how their work will look when viewed by different viewers. A long lens can create an illusion of depth by showing the viewer a greater field of vision. This gives viewers the feeling that they're closer to the subject than they actually are. Since the camera's view is not restricted by close-ups, it can be filmed at a wide angle which translates well into how viewers see photographs when viewed on screens.

  7. LONG LENS Since the introduction of cinema in 1895, lenses have been used to project live-action footage onto big screens for audiences to watch. The audience of this time was accustomed to watching this projected footage on big screens; so it made sense for photography to follow suit. This is why photographs are commonly displayed with a long lens since the use of this type of lens makes viewers feel as if they're looking at a screen.

  8. DEFINING FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY A third reason that fine art photography is so popular is its ability to define the photographer's style and work. By incorporating the use of long lenses and other advanced methods, photographers can experiment to produce a style that defines their work.

  9. DEPTH OF FIELD One of the most notable ways that distance can be made to look larger is by using a large depth of field. A shallow depth of field, on the other hand, is when the background is blurred. This gives off a sense that a subject is closer to the viewer than it actually appears.

  10. FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY DISPLAY Once the artwork has been captured, it can be displayed in a number of ways. This can include printing it on canvas, framing and displaying it in a gallery setting, or simply displaying it on all four walls on the artist's wall. Many photographers will also choose to combine two or more aspects of photography into one piece.
