  1. What the Holy Spirit Creates through PrayerColossians 4.2-6 Doug Brownaudio, pdf, and power point available @ karenvineyard.org

  2. Devote yourselves v.2 “Devote” - "to be strong, to give firm, constant connection to a person or a thing. “Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5.17

  3. being watchfulv.2 “Being watchful – keeping awake or aware. Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16.13 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5.8

  4. Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account. Oscar Wilde

  5. The battle is lost or won in the secret places of the will before God, never first in the external world. Get alone with God, fight it out before Him, settle the matter there once and for all. Oswald Chambers

  6. being thankful v.2 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1.21 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4.6

  7. When we feed ourselves on what we feel God has not done we undermine our own confidence and faith in God. We keep a mental log of what we have prayed, whom we have prayed for, and what we feel has worked and what hasn’t. We carry that baggage of incompleteness or failure which can define the next moment we pray.

  8. Purposeful Prayer vv.3 -6 The purpose of prayer is not to get human’s will done in heaven, but to get God’s will done on earth.

  9. “Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance; it is laying hold of His willingness.” Richard Trench

  10. Opportunity • Chronos – time as duration. • Kairos- denotes a point of time. Kairos used for significant time, God's time or opportunity, Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5.15

  11. Prayer puts God to work. That is prayer moves God to work in ways He would not work if the prayer was not made. Prayer puts God’s work into His hands and keeps it there. At the same time, God puts prayer to work because His response involves human activity. -E.M Bounds

  12. O Lord, by your Spirit , through your Word, make real in me, all that is true for me in Christ Jesus.
