Credit Hours • 1 credit hour = 1 hour spent in class and 2+ hours of work outside of class • Reading, papers, group work, etc. • Full-time enrollment is 12+ credit hours • All degrees require at least 120 credit hours 12+ hours/semester = 5 year plan 15+ hours/semester = 4 year plan Customize footer: View menu/Header and Footer

  19. FERPAFamily Educational Rights and Privacy Act Federal law protecting the privacy of student education records. Only the student, and legitimate IU Southeast employees, have access to academic information such as grades, transcripts, and advising notes. Students must grant permission for parents, guardians, and spouses to have access to their information. Elementary/Special Education • Minimum GPA – 2.5 (overall, content area, EDUC) • Must meet criteria and apply to get into the program (50 students admitted each Fall and Spring semester) • After admission to a program, it takes at least 4 more semesters to finish. • Advisor (once admitted to the program) is a School of Education faculty member.

  28. Elementary Special Ed. 124 hours* Licensure is for K-12 “Mild Intervention” No concentration • 127 hours* • Licensure is for grades K-6 • Concentration in social studies • (required); English, math and/or science (optional)

  29. Secondary Education • Includes high school and middle school certification • Content areas: Language Arts, Math, Sciences, Social Studies • Teaching minors vs. Academic minors • KY does not license teaching minors, Physical Science
