  2. Body heat in exercise • Most of the energy released from different metabolic system converted to heat (M.E.). • Part of this heat used for: - overcoming viscosity of muscle and joint. - overcoming friction of blood flow through the vessels.

  3. Most of this heat is losted from the body by: • evaporation • conduction • convection • irradiation The most important mechanism for heat loss during exercise is evaporation.

  4. for evaporation of each 1 gm. water 0.6 k.calories is losted from the body. • during heavy exercise per one hour we can loss about one liter of water as sweat. • wiping of sweat from the body is useless to lower the body heat. • sweat must be evaporated in order to lower the body heat.

  5. Heat stroke (37c◦ 41.5- 42c◦) • In endurance exercise with very hot humid weather and excess clothing body temperature increases up to 41.5- 42c◦ . • This lead to tissue destruction especially brain cells .

  6. Symptoms of heat stroke: • extreme weakness. • exhaustion. • headache. • dizziness. • nausea. • profuse sweating. • confusion. • staggering gait. • collapse and unconsciousness.

  7. Treatment of heat stroke: Reduce the body temperature as rapidly as possible by: • removal of all clothes. • spray of water on all the body surface. • strong fan or air conditioned room. • immersion of the body in ice water pool.
