Preparation for spiritual warfare • Understand the reality of the spiritual battleRomans 8:38-39; Ephesians 6:12; I Peter 5:8-10 • Understand your position in Christ—Satan has been defeated (Ephesians 1:19-22)—the believer has authority in Christ • Weapons of warfare (2 Corinthians:10-3-6)—prayer, faith, obedience

Basics of Spiritual Warfare • We expect it (1 Peter 5:8) • We prepare for it (1 John 3:8) • We pray for protection (James 4:7) • We pray for discernment (Eph 1:17, 6:16-18) • We pray against it (1 Peter 3:12; Col 4:2) • We pray and walk with confidence that there is victory in Christ and that He is with us always (1 Peter 5:9; 1 John 3:24; Eph 3:16) Prepare with under girding prayer—discernment

Possible manifestations of Spiritual Warfare: • Strife among team members • Logistical problems • Misunderstandings with hosts in country • Illness and other medical issues • Discouragement and emotional overload • Poor rest; unusual behavior • Theft, lost luggage • Attacks can be on the field or back home
