Richards(1990,2012) and others • 3pieces of research: (a) A Thesis(MA) of YanisaBuranchaitawee(1995)มศว: Diagnostic Listening & Speaking Test for students of course ‘ชพณ 3309’ Conversation1 in Vocational College; (b) The Need for Language Skills Training for Tour Company Staff in the Thai Tourism Industry.John C Wash & Thavorn Thittongkam,2010,Sripatum University and (c) Development of Theory of Mind in English-speaking Chinese Singaporeans. Li Qu & others,2010,Nanyang University • Assessing Speaking: The Concept& Scoring scales of Hughes, Luoma, McKay and Richards esp. 3 criteria >Accuracy, Fluency & Application + validity, holistic& analytic & Authentic evaluation

Methodology / Data Collection/Samples 1.Individuals’ Tests >pretest+posttest focusing on personal talking(interview),pronunciation,word-usage,sentence& application(4indicators) 2.Pair-work speaking practice observing students’ eye-contact, pauses, endings of N&V esp. students’accuracy,fluency & appropriacy (3criteria) 3.Division students into 3groups according to their marks obtained>7-10for A-group,5-7B-group and 5 below C-group under the 4indicators&3criteria as shown in No.1-2 4.Retest those who cannot pass the criteria set

Data Analysis • This study is a content/ descriptive research which applies the following steps: • Analyzing the criteria set to measure and compare 3groups of students’ marks receiving from all the tests done under 4indicators used>>> (Pronunciation +Word usage+ Sentences + Application) • Comparing each group’s improvement esp. individuals’ & pair-work under 3criteria(accuracy+ fluency+ appropriacy ) set • Applying and summarizing the conceptual frameworks from the recognized & well-known methodologists, theorists and language assessors: Hughes(2003),Luoma(2004),McKay(2006),O’Malley& others(1996),Richards(1990), Underbill(2003) and Willis(1981)

  6. Results of Research 1. According to the criteria set > 1 goal, 2frames, 3essentials, 4indicators,3criteria, the improvement of 11 students’ English speaking skill of A and B groups was quite satisfactory. 2. 72 % or 8 out of 11 students’ English speaking development was acceptable. Because this study was verified&implied that the result somewhat met the assumption mentioned above. 3. Individuals’ negative attitude & behavior(punctuality,tardiness,responsiblilty,pair-work spirit & lack of his/her inner personal drive) always affects students’ English speaking progress.

  7. Recommendations • If students want to achieve his or her goal in speaking English: love English, always use it and practice more and more • Teacher: facilitator, helper, checker and native- speaker • Equipment: modern and advanced technology • Management: appropriate and pleasant atmosphere Of learning • Assessment: test esp. speaking skills
