  1. How to Focus on Yourself in Order to Improve Your Health and Wellness More women need to see their 40s as the perfect time to reinvent themselves. Too many women feel as if they have to live their lives in service of others--for their families, their jobs, their friends, and even their communities. They spend so much time focusing on other people and commitments that they forget to take the time to nurture themselves. Most women know that it’s important to maintain their health, but when women think of focusing on their health and wellness, they often forget that wellness (and health for that matter) includes creating time, peace, and happiness for themselves. Many women see taking the time to nurture themselves as being selfish or a waste of time. But, honestly, nothing could be further from the truth. If we give and give and give until we are empty, we will have nothing left to give to ourselves, and to others. This is why taking the time to focus on yourself and to nurture yourself is vital to your mental health as well as to keep you in tip-top shape to keep getting out there, every day, and being there for the ones you love. How to Nurture Yourself for Health and Wellness for Women 1. Practice Self-Care for Women Carve out a few minutes, a few times a week, to focus on yourself in the form of self-care. The key to self-care is that you find out what really rejuvenates you and helps you feel relaxed and refreshed, and be sure to engage in that activity easy healthy breakfast ideas a least a couple of times a week. For some this means getting a manicure and pedicure. For others it could be reading in a quiet space or learning to meditate. Others enjoy journaling, cooking, watching a movie, taking a class, walking the dog, or even just having a bowl of ice cream, all by yourself. 2. Exercise Getting enough exercise isn’t just vital to your physical health, it’s vital to your mental health as well. The easiest way to get in your daily dose of exercise is to walk 10,000 steps a day. That’s all you need to do to maintain your basic, every-day level of physical activity. Your smartphone likely already has a health app on it that you can use to gage your daily number of steps. Over course, it’s always better to surpass the bare minimum when it comes to exercising. There are endless ways for women to fit some physical activity into their days in order to boost their health and wellness! Join a dog- walking group on Meetup, go to the gym and listen to your favorite music while you work out your stress on the treadmill, take a bike ride with your kids, sign up for a yoga class. Or, just get on youtube and search for 20- minute exercise routines that you can follow along with at home. 3. Reinvent Yourself After 40 If you feel like you are totally in a rut and no amount of self-care or exercise will help you feel as if you are living your authentic life, try reinventing yourself. This could mean something as simple as taking up a side hustle that is fun but productive such as crafting and selling items on Etsy, or starting a business selling your world-famous pies

  2. at the weekend Farmer’s Market in your city. Or, if you are really feeling adventurous, start a bigger business, move to a new city, book that big vacation that you don’t have time for. Yes, these are big things and they will take some serious planning and overhauling of your life. But if you feel like you’ve always wanted to do something major, but life’s holding you back, make it a serious goal and spend the next 1, 3, or 5 years working to make that goal happen. As they say, you never regret the things you’ve done, only the things you didn’t try. So, start where you feel comfortable. If all you can do right now is schedule in 20 minutes, 3 times a week to go on a peaceful walk alone, do it. If you feel the itch to make a big life change, start writing down a few small actionable steps you can take today to reach that goal in a year (or 5 years) from now, and build off those little steps until your goal has been met. But most importantly, be good to yourself and take care of yourself.
