  4. Sand mineral mining was in the public sector for nearly three decades. Certain minerals were de-listed from the atomic mineral category too allow the entry of private sector in the business from January 2007.   5. Garnet mining was also not allowed by private companies till the late 1980s after obtaining a no-objection certificate from the department of atomic minerals. A case filed against VV Minerals for illegal beach mining and manufacturing and exporting atomic minerals is back-firing on the accusers.
