Kick off – September 10, 2013Jainism vs. Hinduism Similarities – • Brahman • Goal is to fulfill dharma and achieve moksha (escape from reincarnation) • Hinduism • - No founder • Brahman is eternal spirit • devas are aspects of Brahman that are active in the world • Jainism • Ahimsa (nonviolence) • Hinduism has too many rituals • you can achieve moksha by giving up all worldy things and controlling your actions
