  2. What are Earthquakes?? • Earthquakes are sismic movements that are produced by the movement of tectonic plates.

  3. Where do they ocurr? Earthquakes are occuring near the shores of the continents, where the plates touch each other.

  4. How likely is it that your area will experience an Earthquake? • Since our area is near the joining of two tectonic plates (the Nazca plate and the south american plate) it has more chances of feeling an earthquake.

  5. Effects on people’s life • Earthquakes can cause the death of many people, it can destroy buildings and houses.

  6. Volcanoes • Earthquakes occur because magma from the center of the earth goes up becuse the pressure.

  7. Where do volcanoes often occur? • Volcanoes first are created when two tectonic plates crashed un go upward. • So Volcanoes occur near the joining of tectonic plates.
