Take A Stand • We live in a world where many will not take a stand for what is right; but, as Christians, we have a duty to take a stand for principles of truth • Everyday, some Christian somewhere faces a “David and Goliath” moment: bigger, defying, and, influencial (1 Sam. 17) • Will you cut and run (1 Sam. 17:24), or will you stand and fight (1 Sam. 17:48)?

  3. Stand Up and Be Counted • Joshua took a stand against the weakness of his brethren (Num. 14:4-10; Josh. 1:6; 24:15) • Esther took a stand against hatred, prejudice, and revenge (Esther 4:8-16) • Daniel & friends took a stand against the pressure of their peers (Dan. 3:18; 6:10) • Ezra & Nehemiah took a stand against the immorality of their brethren (Ezra 9-10; Neh. 13)

  4. Stand Up and Be Counted • John and Jesus took a stand against religious error (Mt. 3:1ff; 14:1ff; 15:1ff; 23:1ff) • Peter and John took a stand against religious authority (Acts 4:19; 5:29) • Paul took a stand against hypocrisy (Gal. 2:11) • John took a stand against the self-willed, domineering local church bully (3 Jn. 9-10)

Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE (5/26/14) DEAR BELOVED BROTHER… I SUPPOSED TO SEND TO YOU MY REPORTS REGARDING THE WORK OF OUR LORD HERE IN OUR AREAS THIS WEEK BUT WE HAVE BRETHREN WHO DIED ONE AFTER THE OTHER. I AM REQUESTED TO SPEAK ON THEIR FUNERAL SERVICES. WE HAVE ALSO HUNDREDS OF BRETHREN WHO ARE DISPLACED DUE TO ONGOING WARS & WE ARE DOING WHAT WE CAN TO HELP THEM. MANY OF THEM ARE VERY SICK PLEADING FOR HELP BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO MONEY FOR THEIR MEDICINES. THEY ARE ALSO IN SEVERE HUNGER. PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM.

Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… BUT EVEN THOUGH WE ARE VERY HARD UP IN HELPING THE MOST NEEDY BRETHREN, WE CONTINUE TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO MANY PLACES & WITH THE GRACE OF GOD, MANY WERE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST. TO GOD BE THE GLORY. I WILL SEND MY REPORT TO YOU REGARDING THE WORK OF OUR LORD HERE IN OUR AREAS AFTER THE BURIAL OF THESE TWO BRETHREN.

  7. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… BRO. ROGELIO ENOC WAS BEHEADED BY REBELS, SUNDAY, MAY 25, 2014. AT ABOUT 5:00 A.M. HE WENT TO THE RIVER TO TAKE A BATH BECAUSE HE WILL ATTEND MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE AFTER TAKING A BATH. BUT THE REBELS BEHEADED HIM & A VERY LITTLE PART OF HIS NECK LEFT. HIS LEFT HAND WAS CUT OFF INTO TWO & ONE OF HIS EARS WAS CUT OFF & POSSIBLY WAS BROUGHT BY THE REBELS.

  8. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… ATTACHED ARE PICTURES OF BRO. ROGELIO ENOC. BRO. ROGELIO ENOC & HIS FAMILY ARE SO VERY POOR, LIVING IN A VERY MOUNTAINOUS AREA. I KNOW HIM PERSONALLY AS A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST SINCE 1972 WHEN MY FATHER BAPTIZED HIM AT BOTILON CHURCH OF CHRIST, BOTILON, MAGSAYSAY, DAVAO DEL SUR. AND I WAS ABLE TO PREACH THERE MANY TIMES. BUT THE MUSLIM REBELS BURNED THE HOUSES OF OUR BRETHREN & THE CHURCH BUILDING OF BOTILON CHURCH OF CHRIST ON 1974.

  9. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… ALL THE WORKING ANIMALS OF OUR BRETHREN WERE TAKEN BY THE MUSLIM REBELS. OUR BRETHREN WERE DISPLACE COUNTLESS TIMES BECAUSE THE REBELS WENT BACK MANY TIMES WHEN OUR BRETHREN WENT BACK TO THEIR GARDENS.

Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… BUT EVEN THOUGH OUR BRETHREN WERE DISPLACED COUNTLESS TIMES, EVERY WERE THEY WERE DISPLACED THEY PREACHED THE GOSPEL FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER & WITH THE GRACE OF GOD MANY CONGREGATIONS WERE ESTABLISHED. GLORY TO GOD. WE DO WHAT WE CAN TO GO TO THE PLACES WHERE THEY WERE EVACUATED OR DISPLACED & WE HELPED THEM IN PREACHING THE GOSPEL. WHEN THEY WENT BACK TO BOTILON & HAD STAYED FOR YEARS, BRO. ROGELIO ENOC WAS ELECTED AS ONE OF THE ELDERS OF BOTILON CHURCH OF CHRIST.

  11. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, BRO. LORETO ENOC IS THE PREACHER OF BOTILON CHURCH OF CHRIST. AND BECAUSE BRO. LORETO ENOC & RELATIVES WANTS TO STUDY MORE THE WORD OF GOD, THEY ALWAYS ATTEND OUR MONTHLY BIBLE LECTURES HERE IN DIGOS CITY. AND BRO. ROGELIO ENOC ALWAYS ATTENDED OUR GOSPEL MEETINGS IN NEIGHBOR PLACES.

  12. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… THERE WERE MANY WHO WERE KILLED IN THIS PLACE ON THE PAST YEARS BOTH REBELS, GOVERNMENT FORCES, MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF CHRIST & CIVILIANS. BUT EVEN THOUGH THE WAR THAT STARTED ON 1969 & IT SEEMS IT IS UNENDING WAR, OUR BRETHREN CONTINUE TO WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT & IN TRUTH. MANY OF OUR BRETHREN DIED IN THIS PLACE DUE TO ILLNESS, LACK OF MEDICINES, HIT BY STRAY BULLETS, HIT BY BOMBS & SOME DIED IN HUNGER BUT EVERY TIME WE VISIT THEM THEY ARE ALSO VERY HUNGRY OF THE WORD OF GOD.

  13. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… THEY HAVE ALWAYS GIVE TIME TO LISTEN THE WORD OF GOD, TO OBEY THE WORD OF GOD & TO HELP TO PREACH THE WORD OF GOD EVEN TO THE REBELS. MOST OF OUR BRETHREN IN THIS PLACE REMAIN FAITHFUL. GLORY TO GOD.

  14. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… THE SON-IN-LAW OF BRO. ROGELIO ENOC, BRO. RENO MINGONG, WHO IS ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF DIGOS CITY CHURCH OF CHRIST, AND WHO IS ONE OF OUR CO-PREACHER IN MOUNTAINOUS PLACES, CAME HERE AT HOME PLEADING FOR HELP BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO MONEY FOR BURIAL EXPENSES & THEY HAVE NO MONEY FOR THEIR FOOD. MANY OF THEIR MEMBERS OF THEIR FAMILY ARE ALSO SICK BUT HAVE NO MONEY FOR THEIR MEDICINES. PLEASE PRAY FOR THEM & PLEASE HELP THEM.

  15. Stand Up and Be Counted JULIE NOTARTE… ANY AMOUNT OF HELP, EVEN THOUGH HOW SMALL IT IS WILL BE GREATLY RECEIVE & PROPERLY USE. THE DEAD BODY OF BRO. ROGELIO ENOC WAS TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER PLACE BECAUSE HIS FAMILY EVACUATED AFTER THE KILLING OF BRO. ROGELIO ENOC. BRETHREN IN THEIR PLACE ALSO EVACUATED FOR FEAR THAT THEY MIGHT BE KILLED ALSO BY THE REBELS.

  16. Stand Up and Be Counted • Courage must be based upon “the faith” of God’s word (1 Cor. 16:13; 2 Thess. 2:15; 1 Pet. 5:12) • Courage needs the protection of God’s armor (Eph. 6:10-18) • Courage works better when you do it with other Christians (Phil. 1:27) • Courageous or cowardice, the choice is yours! But where will the cowards end up (Rev. 21:8)?
