History of Abusters • Founded 1989 by KalleLasn and Bill Schmalz • “Talking Rainforest” • Media Carta • Counter pro-consumerist advertising • Mission: “Our aim is to catalyze a sudden, unexpected moment of truth – a mass reversal of perspective; a global mindshift – from which the corporate consumerist forces never full recover.”

Intersectionality as a Collective • Capitalism- there is a select few people that are in the powerful position • Capitalism produces patriarchy • Men monopolize power • women are being oppressed which sexism • Capitalism produces racisms • dominant majority of rich white men • Transformative assets guarantee White Supremacy • marginalizes the minority • minorities are oppressed and exploited • Capitalism produces Classism • Very rich upper class -Very poor lower class • ADBUSTERS • Complex organization • Fighting against capitalism and what its doing to our planet for the sake of the larger problem at hand • Fighting the isms-

FIGHTING BACK- CAMPAIGNS • BUY NOTHING DAY 2014 • Purpose- To challenge the ideals behind Capitalism that say the economy must always be growing and consumers must be consuming in order to satisfy needs. • Buy nothing on black Friday • “Today, humanity faces a stark choice: save the planet and ditch capitalism, or save capitalism and ditch the planet.”

FIGHTING BACK- CAMPAIGNS • #OW • Day 795 of occupying finical districts protesting the negative effects of capitalism in hope of forcing economic change • “The fire in the soul of Occupy burns from Oakland to Quebec, Barcelona to Chicago, Wall Street to Moscow and Frankfurt… now the Zuccotti model is morphing and Occupy is undergoing a period of sustained global tactical innovation. This is all just the beginning…” • Zuccotti model- Start of the Occupy movement starting in Zuccotti park near wallstreet

FIGHTING BACK- CAMPAIGNS • Kick It Over • Purpose- Bringing to light the oppression within advertisement • Students post pictures of the negative effects of capitalism to show people and make them want to change our economy. • All of these major companies “big business” are guilty of using the isms we talked about to create oppression • practicing organized crime, taking advantage of people, oppressing certain people because of their race, sex, and class. • Adbusters is bring awareness to the use of these isms to oppress people in order to make money, how long does this oppression need to go on before people see the crime?

  9. Conclusion A world where economy and ecology balance They want people to get mad about corporate injustices in the global economy and any industry that pollutes or mental and physical commons.
