  1. How to Get a Certificate Attested in the UAE

  2. Introduction Certification-Attestation is the process of authenticating documents by an authorized person or department with a seal and signature. The attestation of personal or business documents becomes mandatory, especially if you require a visa for Dubai. The UAE does not form part of the Hague Apostille Convention. In other words, for documents to be deemed valid, authentication and legalization using the government is essential. The process of learning all the technical details can be somewhat laborious and tedious, which is why we recommend outsourcing such work to legal consultants. These professionals are aware of all the technicalities and can do this work on behalf of you in the given time-frame.

  3. Guidelines for Attesting Educational and Related Documents • Along with educational documents, the Embassy also performs attestation of other documents, such as: • Diplomas • Birth certificates; and • Marriage certificates (issued by your home country). • The presented document should be in original and photocopy form and signed in front of the Consular Officer. The officer then verifies the signature of the candidate from his/her passport to validate his/her identity. • The UAE government needs all educational documents, along with professional documents to be attested by each country’s respective Embassy in the UAE, for further attesting by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the UAE. This procedure is mandatory before granting permission for a UAE visa.

  4. General Steps Involved in the Attestation Process Attestation in Home Country: To give an international value to the document, attestation is mandatory. The document attestation is first done by Foreign Affairs of the relevant ministry of the candidate’s home country. The Ministry checks the notary documents of the applicant before attesting them. Attestation by UAE Embassy: After attesting documents from the applicants’ home country, the documents reach the UAE Embassy for attestation. The Embassy then checks whether the documents are correctly verified, before stamping them. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Certification: Documents are submitted to MOFA once they are brought to the UAE. After submission, MOFA checks them and ensures that they are notarized, certified, and attested for the UAE Embassy by the origin country.
