  4. Questioning Techniques 1 • Prepare your students for extensive questioning • Use both pre-planned and emerging questions • Use a wide variety of question types • Avoid the use of rhetorical questions • State questions with precision

  5. Questioning Techniques 2 • Pose whole-group questions unless seeking clarification • Use appropriate wait time • Select both volunteers and non-volunteers to answer questions • Respond to answers provided by students

  6. Questioning Techniques 3 • Maintain a positive class atmosphere • Throw back student questions • Interrelate previous comments • Restate discussion goal periodically • Take your time • Be equitable in the way you select students to respond.
