  1. Faculty of Health Ethics Committee Programme of workshops and events for 2009-10 A booking form is available at the end of this presentation

  2. What does the ethics committee do? This workshop is for • anyone who is interested in joining the committee; • new members. It will help you to find out about the work of the committee, meet some of the members and discover what is involved in an ethical review. Facilititators:Paula McGee, Nicky Stock, Mary Rooke and Chris Inman Date: 24th September 1230-1500 Edgbaston Campus. Room tbc Refreshments will be available. Please bring your sandwiches and find out more.

  3. Research regulation in the NHS This seminar is for • anyone planning to research in the NHS; • research supervisors. It will help you to find out about the role of the research departments in local NHS Trusts, the new research passport scheme and other important information. Facilitators: outside speaker, Paula McGee Date: 14th December 0930-12 Edgbaston Campus. Room tbc Refreshments will be available.

  4. Developing information for research participants This workshop is for researchers and supervisors. It will help you to develop some best practice principles and get some new ideas. Facilitators: Chris Inman, Nicky Stock, Mary Rooke and Paula McGee Date 10th February 1300 - 1500 Edgbaston Campus. Room tbc Refreshments will be available

  5. Research/audit/evaluation – what’s the difference? This workshop is for all researchers and supervisors. It will help you to clarify some of the similarities and differences between research, audit and evaluation. Facilitators: Nicky Stock, Pat Davies, Paula McGee Date: 19th May 1230-1400 Edgbaston Campus. Room tbc Refreshments will be available. Please bring your sandwiches and find out more.

  6. Researching vulnerable groups This seminar is for researchers, supervisors and anyone interested in research ethics. It will help you to explore the concept of what is meant by vulnerable with particular reference to particular patient/client groups. You will also have the opportunity to meet members of local NHS RECs and staff from NHS R&D departments. Facilitators: outside speakers, Nicky Stock, Lynda Stobert, Paula McGee Date: 30th June 0930-1500 Edgbaston Campus. Room tbc Refreshments and lunch will be included.
