  3. Arizona Revised Statutes require the adoption of a Public Participation Plan (PPP) as an initial step in the General Plan process • Should provide for broad dissemination of information and opportunity for open discussion and submission of comments and feedback • The proposed Public Participation Plan encompasses all of the key features required by state law Public Participation Plan

  4. Town is creating a place on the Town’s web site for the General Plan for the public to stay current on what is going on • Will contain info on upcoming meetings and events, minutes, draft General Plan documents, and an area for submitting public comments will be included Webpage

  5. The General Plan Technical Review Committee (GPTRC) will be appointed to assist in the review of the draft components of the plan • A GPTRC helps to ensure that a broad perspective on issues is included in the process • One member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and one member of the Town Council may serve on this committee General Plan Technical Review Committee

  6. Interviews will be used to idenetify issues affecting the Town now and in the future and what their vision for the community is • Will include other governmental entities, public service organizations, and those active in the community StakeholdeR Interviews

  7. At least two to be held • Interactive and include group interaction and discussion • Questions at first workshop will be more general and help establish the visioning process • Second workshop will be more direct and specific to the plan. • Both meetings will be posted on the website, distributed to our email list, and info will be provided to local news outlets “Town Hall“ Workshops

  8. Statute requires public hearings by both the Planning and Zoning Commission and Town Council • Notice of each public hearing will be provided by legal ad, an article in the local newspaper, an announcement on the webpage, and distributed to the Town’s email list • Citizen feedback will be encouraged Public hearings

Adoption of Public Participation Plan by Council • Appoint General Plan Technical Review Committee • Design and post web page • Begin stakeholder interviews • Complete stakeholder interviews • Meet with appointed General Plan Technical Review Committee members • First public “Town Hall” workshop Month OneMonth two
