  3. Student expectationsTardy bell rings at 7:30 AMTo complete class work and active participation.Accept responsibility with folders, school work and homework.To follow school and classroom rules.

  4. Parent Expectations • Please have your child at the school so that they can get to the classroom by 7:30 • Make sure that your child has had a good night’s sleep and an adequate breakfast. • Email us if you have questions or concerns. • Assist as well as stress the importance of homework with your child.

  5. Homework Expectations • Read with your child 30 minutes or more everyday (summary will be due with homework) • Check your child’s homework notebook and make sure they finish every assignment . • Homework will be sent out each Friday and due the following Friday.

  6. Behavior Students will receive a weekly Citizenship grade based on their ability to follow the Cox Coyote Code of Conduct. Your child will begin each week with a citizenship grade of 100. Misbehavior will be recorded. Seven points will be deducted from your child’s weekly citizenship grade for each incident of misbehavior in a week. Weekly Citizenship grades will be averaged at the end of each nine-week period and will appear on the report card.

  8. Daily Take Home Folder Parent/teacher Communication folder will go home each day . • (Return Every Day) This folder needs to be brought to school everyday. Inside this folder will be the students conduct sheet which must be signed by you everyday. Your child will receive a weekly behavior grade. Any extra homework or additional notes will be transported in this folder. • There will also be a Thursday Folder with graded papers and notes from the front office, PTA and other events that might take place throughout the school year. This folder needs to be returned on Fridays.

  9. Grading • Report Cards • Native Language (grades are taken in the native language only) • Second Language—shows progress • Grades • 0-69 Fail • 70-79 • 80-89 • 90-100

  10. Graded Papers • Grades are entered weekly in skyward • Papers are returned every two weeks • If a student fails a paper and the teacher deems it necessary, a separate assignment can be given and the average of the two grades will be entered in the gradebook.

  11. Assessments • DISTRICT ASSESSMENT • 1. End of the Unit Test • 2. AIMS WEB (Reading/Math) 3. DRA/EDL (FLUENCY) 4. STAAR 5. TELPAS (information will be sent home) WEEKLY ASSESSMENT • Reading test • Math test • Science or Social Studies projects • Writing

  12. Field Trips • If you plan on attending or volunteering for a fieldtrip, make sure you complete a background check. This has to be completed • each year
