  5. What is the Endeavour Academy? • Sequence of courses • Mission to Planet Earth • Mechatronics • Design Engineering • Applied Science, Engineering, & Math • Hands-on, real applications • Designed to help one succeed in a college education and a high-tech career

What Will We Do? • Learn by doing in actual application • Electronics, models, bridges, towers • Robotics, Microprocessors, BOE-Bot • SLAC, Physics Day at Great America • Balloon Fest • Atmospheric instrumentation • Earthquakes & Seismometers • Develop the skills of a professional engineer • Design & build projects • Present your work professionally • Use your math skills as tools to understanding • Internships

  7. What’s does it do for my Child? • Fun and exciting • The high school graduation requirement in physical science • The UC and MIT entrance requirement for lab science • CalPoly: “Special Consideration” in admissions process.

How will my child be Assessed? • Homework  20% of final grades • Full credit even if wrong as long as it is on-time, complete and shows good effort. • Lab & Project Work  40% of final grades • Graded primarily on completeness and effort 60% of the grade is credit / no credit • Tests & Quizzes  40% of final grades • “Debrief” retake test for up to 80% credit by verbally explaining correct answers The only way to fail is to stop trying

Support Opportunities • I accept late homework (3 out of 5 points) • I encourage verbally retaking tests or debriefing (up to 80%) • Students are welcome to schedule an appointment to see me for any kind of help. • The lab room is often open for help. • Check the Endeavour Website:http://www.pasoschools.org/endeavour

What is expected of the Student? • Be On-Time • In seat & ready to start at the bell • HW complete • Saturday school assigned if unprepared 3 times • Attempt every part of each assignment. • Turn in all assignments on time • Review and debrief any test with a score of less than 80%. • Stay organized and take notes in class • Plan for absences and make-up immediately
