Design Report
  • Explain thought processes, engineering philosophy that led to conclusions
  • Detail the methods, procedures, calculations
    • Airfoil selection, drag analysis, stability, power plant performance, etc.
    • Performance prediction: How much weight can your plane lift?

Oral Presentation
  • 15-minute design presentation
  • Judged on technical content and manner of presentation
  • Try to convince customer to purchase your design
  • What makes your design better than the competition?

Flying Competition
  • Technical inspection (requirements met?)
    • Wing planform area, cargo bay size, airworthiness, conformance to plans
  • Pilot must have AMA membership card
  • Time limit while on tarmac
    • 5 minutes to make a successful takeoff
