Where we are • Pilots in play – evaluation due early New Year • £11m of pooled health and care budgets in Better Care Fund • We know that no areas have the infrastructure or relationships required yet – development • The first step will be taken in January: 3 – 4 Community Wellbeing Partnerships to start their journey with local people and with us. Phase 1, not a pilot • Phased investment based on progress and trust

Challenges • Role of elected members - democracy • Playing to local strengths and preferences (e.g. led by GPs, VCF, Council?) • Commercial – allowing for growth from £100k to £?m • Partnerships not ‘lead body plus sub-contractors’ • Commissioners accepting a new role – investing to make good things happen, not buying stuff!
