  3. Osceola Public Library • The Osceola Public Library is a branch of the Miss. County Library System. • There are eight other libraries in the system with the main branch in Blytheville, AR. The AR Northeastern College is also a part of the same system. • Kevin Barron is the librarian. • Website: www.mclibrary.net/Osceola.htm

  4. Osceola Public Library • Motto: “We’re Here to Serve You!” • Many patrons use the library for computer access. • Services provided are: Notary, photocopies, fax, laminating, genealogy section, and even passports! • Community room available for various programs

  5. Osceola Public Library • Interviewed Randy Newman, Systems Librarian • Has a Bachelor’s in Computers • Twelve years experience • Installs software and helps with computers throughout the Miss. Rivercrest High School (RHS)Library MISSION STATEMENT: • “To educate ALL students for success” • The SMC Library Media Center is to provide a broad range of materials that will enrich and support the curriculum and meet the needs of individual students and teachers. • To provide access to a wide range of materials on all levels of difficulty, using a variety of formats and varying points of view.

Rivercrest High School Library SERVICES: • 12 Desktop computers in library • Two mobile classrooms- 26 computers each • Reference use- AR Traveler Database • Interlibrary loan thru South Mississippi County (SMC) District and public library • Special Collections: Parenting Section for all stakeholders, AR Collection, JROTC Collection • Government Information-use Dept. of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook Website

RIVERCREST HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY Services continued: • The RHS Library is open at 7:30 everyday, during lunch, and after school • Open at all times-never closed to student use • Student Free-flow system but teachers also schedule classes as needed • No cataloging at the library-completed by publishers

  11. Rivercrest High School Library DESTINY LIBRARY SYSTEM: • Used to check in/check out books • Student check out records are private • Students log in using a user name and password. They can see what they have checked out, reserve books, make a personal reading list, post book reviews and give books a star rating of 1 to 5. • Lists top 10 checkouts • Set up so new books are displayed using Title Peek

  12. Rivercrest High School Library POPULATION SERVED AND DIVERSITY: • The RHS Library serves students in grades 9-12, their parents, teachers, and school administration. The school population includes Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, and students with diasabilities. • All areas and computers are handicapped accessible • Large print collection • High/low materials are available for lower reading levels

  13. Sandy Walker, RHS Librarian She is pictured here with some of her Student Library Aides. She also works with students in the Library Club. They perform an annual Christmas play for some of the elementary students in the district.
