The Concept • Everyone loves a bargain – thus, the BARgain Card! • Members receive discounts on a variety of goods and services with key merchants and businesses throughout the community. • Deeper discounts than those offered to the general public. • Membership recruitment – the BARgain Card has appeal for all members unlike other association benefits. • Must be a member of the bar association to receive a BARgain Card.

Happy 1st Anniversary! • Achieved 70+ participating vendors in the 1st year • Vendor “wanna-be’s” now soliciting the MCBA • Types of Vendors: • Dining • Casual and formal… • Health and Fitness Services • Health clubs, spa services and massage therapy… • Retail • Clothing stores, gift stores, floral shops, dry-cleaning… • Professional Services • Network support, photography, paper supply, printing and much, web and graphic design… • Entertainment • Museums, cooking classes, performance theaters…

Establishing Vendors • Convinced potential vendors that the legal community has money to spend. • Target vendors that the legal community frequents. • Utilize member connections with specific vendors. • Recruit current vendors used by the bar association and other law firms. • Deliver vendors promotional benefit in exchange for meaningful discounts.

Promotion of Vendors to Members • Publish complete list of BARgain Card vendors in quarterly member publication. • New vendors featured in monthly member publication and legal newspaper. • Web site constantly updated. • Wallet sized vendor lists. • Word of mouth!   7. Questions & Challenges • Should we charge for exclusivity? • Should we renew agreements with vendors that are not competitive with other vendors? • Should we publish vendor advertisements on our Web site? For free or for a fee? • Increasing vendor awareness w/members.

  8. What is a BARgain Worth? • Currently selling program to other bar associations. • Program package includes: • BARgain Card logo • Marketing materials • Communications (to vendors and members) • Vendor database • Pricing based on the annual budget of the bar association.
