On an average urinary health issues seem to affect over 50% of men over 50 years of age. Urologists are doctors who specialize in treating complicated urinary health problems like Kidney stone disease, prostate enlargement issues, bladder stones, urinary incontinence and also complicated urological cancers. Our urology hospital has two branches, one in OMR and the other at T-nagar. Our urology facility in OMR was recently inaugurated this year. It employs some of the top and most famous urologist in OMR Road, Chennai What happens when you first visit a Urologist? Your urologist will first ask you some basic clinical questions to understand as to what's exactly troubling you. Next he will do a thorough physical examination. This would normally include a per rectal exam to assess prostate size and genital exam as well. Sometimes, you may be asked to undergo imaging tests like transrectal ultrasound or USG abdomen. These imaging tests will help your urologist decide the exact source of your urinary health issue. Imaging studies can also be combined with blood tests like PSA (Prostate specific antigen). An example would be, say if you are suffering from urinary flow issues, like poor stream, dribble or other things. You may be suffering from an underlying prostate enlargement issue. This can be best diagnosed only by your urologist by a combination of medical history taking, blood tests and imaging. What happens after a diagnosis is made? So, say you are suffering from benign prostate hyperplasia. The next logical step would be to take a treatment decision. Urological treatments can be broadly divided into medical management or surgical intervention. Most well trained urologists will first recommend a medical treatment strategy. Where this fails a surgical approach may help. Our urology hospital in Chennai specializes in offering laser based urology treatments. The advantage of course is that, laser urology treatment procedures are 1. Less painful to the patient 2. Cause less bleeding in general

  2. 3. Allow 24 hour recovery So if you are situated in OMR and if you do believe you are suffering from a urinary health issue, do not think twice about getting in touch with us.
