"NicolaeRomanescu" Park It was built in the romantic style after the plans of the architect and landscape painter Eduard Redont, on the land bought by the prince Gheorghe Bibescu and opened on the 29th sept.1903. The project of the park was distinguished in 1900 with the "Golden Medal" at the International Exhibition" from Paris. It was buit with cultural and artistic funds, donations and public subscriptions at the initiative of the mayor of Craiova. The park lays on a surface of 90 hectares and it has a great variety of trees, bushes and ornamental plants. A true jewel of Craiova, Nicole Romanescu Park was classified among one of the most representative natural parks from Europe, along with Versailles( France), Poncio (Italy) and the English park from Munchen (Grmany).
